Crumb rubber is the granulated rubber fraction recovered from end-of-life truck, bus and radial tyres. At AP Rubber Group the tyres are shredded, granulated, and passed through magnetic and density separation until the steel and textile fractions are removed, then screened to a target mesh size.
Every grade is supplied against a written specification. The material is a free-flowing, homogeneous black granulate with a specific gravity of 1.13 to 1.15, a minimum 45% rubber hydrocarbon content, and moisture held at or below 1.5%. Ash content is specified per grade, from 8% maximum at 30 mesh to 10% maximum at the finer end.
Manufacturers use it to displace virgin polymer in moulded goods, to modify bitumen for road surfacing, and as the elastic fraction in tiles, mats and sports surfacing. Because it is recovered rather than compounded from new feedstock, it carries a materially lower embodied carbon cost than the virgin rubber it replaces.

The coarsest screened grade. Used where bulk elasticity matters more than surface finish — moulded goods, paver blocks, shock-absorbent underlays and industrial flooring.
A mid-range granulate suited to sports surfacing, playground infill, rubber flooring and safety matting, where resilience and a consistent particle size are both required.
A finer granulate for applications needing a smoother finished surface — modified bitumen, sheet goods and moulded products with a tighter surface tolerance.
The finest crumb grade, bordering on powder. Used in rubber compounding, coatings and adhesives where dispersion into the host matrix is the limiting factor.
